From Parish to Prison: Jill Clancy’s Inspiring Story

Welcome to today’s episode! We are thrilled to have a very special guest with us — Jill Clancy, the Prison Chaplain at HMP Barlinnie in Glasgow. Jill’s journey is truly inspiring: she began as a Parish Minister before stepping into prison chaplaincy in 2013 at HMP Kilmarnock. In 2017, she joined Barlinnie and has been serving as chaplain there since 2019. But Jill’s story doesn’t stop there — during the early months of the first lockdown in 2020, she became known as DJ Jolly Jill, taking over the Barbed Wireless radio station inside Barlinnie and bringing hope and connection through the power of music and words. Today, we’ll dive into her incredible experiences, her unique role, and the impact she’s making behind the prison walls.
